I grew up going to many a baby shower and was always told or under the impression that you only had a baby shower for the first child.

Now two women at work have gotten pregnant, one already giving birth and the other is due in a month. The first lady was on her third child, but in her defense, the shower was a surprise and we were told to just bring things like diapers and wipes. It was also a very low key, finger foods ordeal.

This second woman who is due next month is having a full blown, three course meal type of shower because her sister also works at my office. This is her second child and they registered even. Is this proper etiquette? To continue having baby showers after the first child AND registering for them?

On top of that, the sister has decided to go around the office asking the men to donate money for the shower for presents. They aren’t even invited. I think she must have been raised in a barn. What do you think?

I am throwing a baby shower for a friend. She already has plenty of baby items and only wants to receive gift cards at the shower. What is the best way to add this to an invitation?

My brother and his wife are having their first kid and I’ve been invited to the baby shower. I will be unable to attend (I’ve had an international vacation planned for 8 months and will be out of the country on that day), however, I know I have to send a gift, etiquette says so. My question is, what is the best gift to give for a first baby? I usually get clothes, but I know they don’t need that stuff. What about a lamp with a cow on it (cows are my signature thing)? Would that be appropriate? Or should I get onesies and other outfits? The baby is supposed to be born sometime in the winter (though I don’t know the date, because I don’t care that much).

Thanks in advance for your help!
I like my brother just fine. It’s his wife - who thought she was going to be a doctor in 4 months by going into the military - that I can’t tolerate. Should I penalize my brother because he picked the wrong person to marry?

Friends of our just had a new baby and settled on their new home all in the same day! We are heading to check out the new house and I need an idea of what to bring as a gift? Do I focus on the house or the baby? Baby shower gifts were already given. Any suggestions?

I really like my co worked and want to get her baby something nice, but I dont want to be considered cheap. Most gifts in the registry range from $20 to $60.

Would $60 be too much what is a good range?
Thank you so much! I ended up with $50
