The two best options I can think of are to ask her what she needs, then get a little gift just for her(gift certificate for a pedicure maybe?) or a jumbo package of size two diapers(with a “pampering” gift for her). Don’t get size one or newborn though since someone else probably will!

A breastfeeding and/or babywearing gift basket would be wonderful. Get some books about breastfeeding like The Nursing Mother’s Companion, some ****** pads, some milk storage bags, etc. Also, maybe a ring sling, wrap, mei tai, or similar. Beware of the Baby Bjorn type carriers. They dangle the baby by the crotch, putting too much pressure and the brunt of the impact on the spine, which can lead to back problems later in life. Another idea is a nursing cover or a unique diaper bag.
