Well after a few miscarriages this baby is certainly a blessing…so I would get something with meaning…not just diapers or any old toy. If the couple is religious…you could go to a religious store, they have a TON of really thought-provoking treasures for tiny babies (remember that catholic babies are baptized real early on so a lot of those things fit a new baby). If you look hard enough you could probably find something that wasn’t over-the-top religious, just a Gift from God kinda thing.
OR even go to Babies R Us. They have a ton of really tear-jerker gifts for mommies daddies from baby. Like kits to make footprints and/or handprints.
If you’re creative you could write a poem (or even search the internet for a really sentimental poem for new parents) Copy and paste the poem over a picture of God-light (that’s what they call a scene where sunlight streams through clouds) or over a picture of a baby bootie and then buy a really nice silver frame.
Remember that they both are probably feeling very blessed and also sad that they lost so many brothers and sisters of this baby….so don’t be trivial.
