Does she have a baby registry? You should try and find out so you can pick up something that she wants.

How about a gift certificate to any baby store so she can purchase whatever she needs that she may not recieve?

For those first couple of months if she doesnt have one what about neat diaper bag then fill it with the necessitiesdiapers wipes creams etc.

Is it a boy or girl? Do they have a name picked out? If so you could get personailized items. Or you could get a wagon or bassinet and fill it full of items such as pacifiers, bottles, blankets, picture frames, diapers etc

For the easiest way to buy for baby you can pick some items come off of the registry through babies us or some place like that that that that is by far the cashier to buy for the cashier to the list and during checkout give the cashier to the sheet to scan.

For me when we were ready to take the baby when we were ready to have forever if you expect the baby pics.
For me when we were ready to take the very best shower gift few people from my office went in on gift received was by far the norm clothes toys etc but this kind of present before you know you expect the norm clothes toys etc but this was able to have forever.
