My close friends’ baby boy is turning 1 year old soon and I need to know what to get him. I was thinking gold or silver coins (not too much, since I think I can spend about $100 on this). But I think gold is at a high right now and might lose value, and silver is always all over the place. I want something that will appreciate faster than inflation so when he turns 16 or 18 he can buy himself something nice and it will be worth more than $100 in today’s dollars (and it might teach him something about saving and investing and waiting with money and not spending it all at once, that kind of stuff). I thought coins would be nice because they’re tangible; he can look at them and touch them as he grows up. However I’m not bent on coins, I’m open to any good ideas. Thanks!
